Business Management Personal Statement Example 11

I want to do a Business Management degree, because I am an aspiring entrepreneur, and I want to start, build and develop a business for some time now, and I believe your business management course can help do it. My motivation to study Business Management has stemmed from, a quite significant experience.

It was the summer of 2013. I was on YouTube, and a video came up - the iconic apple keynote, when Steve Jobs had unveiled the first iPhone in 2008. Five minutes in, I was hooked. Ever since I have been a proud Apple consumer.

It's not only Apple's products that I use on a daily basis, but the mantra of the it's founder Steve Jobs, "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower". I consistently aim to apply this to my daily life. For example, during the summer break between Year 11 and Sixth Form, I did the national citizen service programme, where we had to work together with people we had not known before, and undergo a gruelling adventure programme, building resilience, confidence, and key networking attributes. It was also on NCS, where I coordinated a team of different people, with different skills to appropriate roles within a final assembly to showcase what we had done. NCS, was a valuable experience for me, because it brought me outside of my comfort zone and allowed me to do things I had never done before. Ever since this experience, I have used the skills I gained in every assignment and task I have had, whether in school or employment.

I have worked as a waiter at Ice stones Gelato, an ice cream parlour, where I have had to interact with different customers and through this have built a deep understanding of vital areas of a successful business, such as customer service. I have also worked on developing my practical acumen, because I believe I should not tell people to do something that I cannot do myself. Cars and vehicles are a passionate hobby of mine - some would even argue I am a Car Fanatic. I have worked as a car detailer, at a detailers company, which has helped me develop a methodology of thorough and consistent work. This is because, before I would often work fast and inefficiently. However, a detailer is the exact opposite of this, it requires attention to the smallest of details, which helped me dramatically become a better and more focused worker. Further improving on work ethic, was working at the tyre company, where I further improved my speed and quality of work, as I would often be tasked with communicating with several clients.

I have an interest in the business world. I can often be found looking at new products of major companies. For example, as a car enthusiast, I often read about the technical specifications of new vehicles and analyse how they compare to their older counterparts. I also watch Car Programmes such as the Online Car Throttle, Top Gear, and recently the Grand Tour, to gain a perspective about new and upcoming products and gain an insight into what people like, or dislike about certain vehicles.

This approach from product analysis, to customer feedback analysis and even leadership makes me an invaluable business asset. I deeply believe that it is my unique approach to leadership, innovation and showmanship that can help me become a business person. I believe that University would be an exciting challenge, allowing me learn about the subject I love, and giving me a better chance of fulfilling my dream to start my own company. I believe my knowledge, commitment and future aspirations will allow me to become a valued member of the business management course.
