French Onion Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 (4 ounce) beef cube steaks
  • 1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • dash of black pepper
  • 4 slices French bread, toasted
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese, halved   


1) Melt the butter in a large skillet.

2) Add beef steaks and brown over medium-high heat for 3 minutes. Turn and brown for another 3 minutes on other side.

3) Remove steaks from pan, add onions to reserve pan drippings.

4) Sauté the onions until tender.

5) In a small bowl, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and fresh ground pepper.

6) Add beef broth mixture to skillet and cook for a further 2 minutes.

7) Place steaks on French bread.

8) Top with Swiss cheese and onion mixture, and serve warm.
