No accommodation introduction.

Accommodation policy: Guarenteed first year accomodatin to 1st year students provided they a) Don't live inside the Sheffield post code region, and b) Hand their forms in by the date instructed.

Facilities: The vast majority of rooms are connected to the University network; for those that aren't - the Endcliffe computer lab is based in Sorby hall.

Most of the halls have their own bars, although Sorby / Earnshaw share theirs - and to that end was refurbed last year.

Self Catered Flats: On the Endcliffe Village site; Woodvale, Crescent, Endcliffe Vale, Riverdale, Wolfson, Crewe. In the city around St Georges/West? Street area, Broad Lane Court, Mappin Court, Victoria House, Victoria Flats. In Crookesmoor, near Law, we have Crookesmoor House.

Self Catered Houses (Uni Owned) are available on the Student Village site, or in Broomhill and Crookes.

Private sector: Most students in their second and third years move out of the University owned accommodation, and move into Student Housing in the private sector.

These are normally available in the Crookes, Crookesmoor and Broomhill areas for around 45-60 per week, excluding rates.

Some newly built execuitive flats/studios are popping up around the city in the Devonshire Green areas, and are set to cost between 75-100 per week.

Environment

Sheffield has long since lost it's image as a dirty industrial city, once associated through the smog from the steel making - instead Sheffield is turning into a vibrant city, always modernizing - and is more commonly know as "England's greenest city".

Architecture: Theres examples of great old buildings across the city, Firth Court is a University building, but is fantastic to look at.

The Peace Gardens are a great place to relax or take a dip in the fountains - the Winter Gardens a venue which brings together art and some wonderful plants from all over the world.

Local area: It's strange, Sheffield is set in seven hills - has city status through it's cathedral, and yet is unbelieveably leafy, particularly in the University residence areas.
6 miles from the Peak District, if you ever feel like a break from the city, which doesn't feel like a city at all, then you can capture some wonderful scenes of the chocolate box villages of Edale, Hathersage and the likes, a short train / bus away.
