Interview formats vary a lot between medical schools and I would advise students to look at school web-sites before going to interview as they often give basic information on the type of interview to expect. An informed student is usually a well –prepared one. At Liverpool we do not ask about academic subjects and my best advice to students is to listen to what is being asked and respond to the questions rather than coming out with a list of the things that they think that we want to hear. Students’ assumptions that they know what we are interested in can often lead them into problems.
