HE1 form

The HE1 form is used to apply for financial support for higher education. It is the fist form which must be filled in to gain help with tuition fees and to be able to access a student loan while at university.

HE1 forms are produced by the Dfes, but it is likely you will get yours from your school or local education authority (LEA). Once completed, HE1 forms are sent to your LEA along with either your passport or birth certificate for verification.

Before you send your form to your LEA check with your school or college. Sometimes people from the LEA come in and verify your form with your passport or birth certificate, saving you having to post them.

HE1 forms are normally available from January, and should be completed in March. Due to changes in the system the government is working more slowly this year, and information will be available from the start of March.
